Families in our community are often hit with unexpected medical emergencies that put emotional and financial strain on the family. Many families can’t afford to stay in hotels or have meals while their children are being treated in the hospital. We have teamed up with the Ronald McDonald House of Charleston to provide can tabs to help fund free stays for families in need who have hospitalized children.
We also know that there is a great need for blood donors since blood cannot be manufactured and many children who are hospitalized need blood. Every two seconds, someone needs a blood transfusion. Without community donors, blood wouldn’t be available. We have teamed up with The Blood Connection to host two blood drives this school year. The blood collected from our drives will be donated directly to Grand Strand Health to serve those in our area
September: Begin school-wide collection of can tabs for Ronald McDonald House. Collection will run all year long with contest for the grade level collecting the most can tabs. Flyers will be sent home to parents and students. Can tabs are used by the Ronald McDonald to give families free accommodations (including meals) while children are in NICU/ICU/PICU.
